The Semex-NZHFA On-Farm Competition differs from conventional livestock judging events in that cattle are assessed for their inherent structural correctness using a specially-developed linear score sheet, without grooming, photography or showing. This format means all breeders can compete against the best in their region on an equal basis.
The 2014 Semex-NZHFA On-Farm Competition attracted over 809 cows from 110 breeders, in 8 wards throughout New Zealand. It was a record number of entries and the finals were judged by Alan Garratty from NSW, Australia. The 2015 competition is shaping to be bigger and better than 2014.
